Our History
June 16th, 1976
The assets of the West Indian Oil Company (Guyana) Limited and Anchor Trading Company Limited were acquired by the then Government of Guyana. This acquisition led to the incorporation of The Guyana Oil Company Limited (GUYOIL). GUYOIL Head Office was located at the Providence Terminal EBD.
The assets acquired from the two companies included Regent Street, Heathburn Terminal, Providence and Kitty.
August 8th, 1978
Growth and expansion led the company to move its’ Head Office from Providence to 166 Waterloo Street, Georgetown.
November 24th, 1982
GUYOIL acquired a property at Victoria, East Bank Demerara. The Victoria Service Station was built and opened for business on 24th November, 1982.
December 10th, 1997
GUYOIL opened the Adventure Fuel Depot on 10th December 1997. The establishment of this depot completed the expansion of GUYOIL’s wholesale facilities in all three (3) counties.
The largest GUYOIL service station was opened at Diamond, East Bank Demerara on April 28, 2010.April 28th
December 2nd
GUYOIL’s Palmyra Service Station was opened and is located 5 miles from the Berbice River Bridge. The station was built with the aim of capturing the increased flow of traffic from the Berbice Bridge.
December 12, 2013
GuyOil is now housed in its owned Head Office (acquired 12 December 2013) at 191 Camp Street, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown.
December 8th, 2014
GUYOIL enters the aviation fuel industry with the opening of GUYOIL Aviation Services at the Timehri Airport. The facility was commissioned on 8th December, 2014.
August 31st, 2015
A fire erupted at the Lubes Storage Bond of the GUYOIL Providence Terminal location. The fire completely destroyed the bond but was effectively contained after one (1) day
